This home had beautiful millwork throughout with crown molding, chair rails, and inset paneling throughout - all in a painted finish. For this reason in particular, the existing rustic stone fireplace just seemed completely incongruous with the rest of the house. We removed all of the stone, including the raised hearth, and replace it with a beautiful dark stone in a honed finish for the hearth and surround. The painted fireplace is now so much more in tune with the tone of the rest of the home.
