CARLOS

Master Woodworker
Co-Founder

Trained in traditional joinery and grounded in over 15+ years of hands-on experience. His approach is part craftsman, part technician, and wholly guided by a reverence for process.

Functional art piece—custom wood bowl made in New York by artisan

With over 15 years of experience and 500+ projects completed, Carlos brings fluency not just in technique, but in the quiet language of material integrity.

Carlos began his practice by hand—no screws, no shortcuts—just a disciplined understanding of how wood moves, breathes, and settles over time. His process begins long before the first cut. At the lumberyard, he reads the wood—its weight, grain, temperament—then allows it to acclimate slowly, respecting the conditions that ensure longevity. In the shop, machines extend his reach, but it is the hand tools—the plane, the chisel, the rasp—that define his touch.

His ethos is shaped by both fine dining and fabrication. His 13+ years at Blue Hill Stone Barns taught him that rhythm, flow, and service define experience—a philosophy he carries into every build, designing not just for form, but for how people live and move through space

Studio

Founded in 2018, our studio focuses on custom millwork, furniture, and interior design. Every project is driven by a deep respect for process, precision, and the belief that beautiful spaces should also be built to last. Since our inception, the studio has completed installations and fulfilled orders throughout Westchester County and beyond.

Our journey began with a simple mission: to create spaces that not only meet the needs of our clients but also inspire and endure over the years.

NOTHING STANDARD
EVERYTHING CONSIDERED

We build custom pieces with respect to material and process

C-los Studio is a high-touch design and woodcraft practice specializing in custom millwork, built-in cabinetry, and timeless interiors. Founded by designer Elena Krougliak and master woodworker Carlos Chimborazo, the studio is shaped by years of experience across fine dining, construction, and interiors. Their shared language is one of form, rhythm, and restraint that is expressed through tailored millwork, enduring built-ins, and spaces that feel both refined and resolved.

Our work begins with respect: for material, for context, and for the quiet intelligence of well-made things. We build not to decorate, but to compose environments that feel inevitable—rooted in tradition, refined through experience, and tailored to the way people live.

Each piece is an extension of our values: clarity, hospitality, and uncompromising craftsmanship. We do not repeat. We do not rush. We work by hand, by eye, and in close dialogue with our clients, guiding them through a process that is as intentional as the outcome.

Elena + Carlos lead the studio with complementary disciplines and a shared commitment to quality. Together, they bring over two decades of project oversight, design fluency, technical skill, and hands-on oversight to the work—ensuring that what we build not only fits, but belongs.

Elena’s work sits at the intersection of refinement and function—rooted in tradition, but attuned to the quiet needs of contemporary life.

Trained in Interior Design at Berkeley College, she began her career at Michael Aiduss Studio, contributing to luxury residential projects and international collaborations, including Ralph Lauren Home.

Her foundation in classic design was later shaped by time spent in fine dining Blue Hill, where she developed an intuitive understanding of flow, proportion, and the subtle ways environments support human experience.

With over seven years of project oversight, Elena brings a deep fluency in construction and collaboration. She speaks the language of trades, sequences complexity with ease, and designs spaces that feel both considered and inevitable—where every detail, material, and line carries intention.

Elena’s work sits at the intersection of refinement and function—rooted in tradition, but attuned to the quiet needs of contemporary life.

Trained in Interior Design at Berkeley College with an undergraduate degree from Barnard College Columbia University, she began her career at Michael Aiduss Studio, contributing to luxury residential projects and international collaborations, including Ralph Lauren Home.

Her foundation in classic design was also refined through time spent working in fine dining in various establishments in New York City and finally at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, where she developed an intuitive understanding of flow, proportion, and the subtle ways environments support human experience.

With over seven years of project oversight, Elena brings a deep fluency in construction and collaboration. She speaks the language of trades, sequences complexity with ease, and designs spaces that feel both considered and inevitable—where every detail, material, and line carries intention.
